Snowbird Spring Break 2024 at the Apalachicola Yacht Club

Ahoy, Mateys!

Punxsutawney Phil, the one and only true weather forecasting groundhog whose predictions are always 100% correct (according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club), has declared an early spring! We'll be warming things up with a little early spring break action this week to celebrate the end of winter doom and gloom — which wouldn't be complete without Sunday Funday, now would it?

Start your week off the right way and join us for Go with the Flow Yoga on Monday, February 12th from 5:30pm - 6:30pm. Go with the Flow is an active vinyasa flow that'll make you get down, up, and down again while you laugh, play, and cultivate your own yogi strength. $15 gets you all the good vibes you can soak up, plus an additional $2 off a beverage of your choice before, after, or during class!

After last week's smashing success, Singo is a go for this Tuesday, February 13th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Singo is all the new rage and just a simple as it sounds — music bingo! Bring your phone to play and remember there's only one rule: HAVE FUN!

We'll be throwing it wide open for Singer Songwriter Night on Thursday, February 15th with none other than the raucous raconteur himself, Corey Hall from 6:00pm - 9:00pm! Winner of the NWFL Regional Blues Challenge, and fresh off of his performance in Memphis in the International Blues Challenge, Corey pours his heart and soul into a one of a kind performance of Florida grown roots, blues, and folk music that'll take your breath away.

Dirty Bird & The Flu land on the AYC stage Friday, February 16th from 7:00pm - 10:00pm. Following a migration pattern all the way from Valdosta, GA, Dirty Bird & The Flu serve up a three course meal of delicious, finger lickin' good southern fried funk. Expect heaping sides of soul seasoned with the blues, complete with several tall glasses of sweet tea to help you drink it all in.

If that didn't satiate your appetite, we've got another buffet of soul food for you all day long on Saturday, February 17th. The Island Swing duo blows into town on the gentle breeze from 2:00pm - 5:00pm to carry you away with tropical beats and iconic Great American Songbook standards infused with the rhythm of the islands. The Billy Rigsby Band takes the stage from 7:00pm - 10:00pm for a scrumptious evening of neo-soul, classic R&B, and authentic southern blues. Big Bend legend Billy Rigsby returns following his intimate solo performance at the Club in January to debut his full band. Formed in Tallahassee by Rigsby himself in the late 90's, the Billy Rigsby Band has opened for some of the biggest names in the music industry, including James Brown and Earth, Wind, & Fire. As an extra special treat, Gilbert Gardens will be hosting their uber popular Build-Your-Own Succulent Bar from 6:00pm - 9:00pm under the twinkling Hangar lights. This event is come as you please, open house style, no ticket or registration necessary.

At long last, what you've been looking forward to all month... SUNDAY FUNDAY! Doors open at 12:00pm on Sunday, February 18th and close at 5:00pm. Join us in welcoming esteemed special guest, Captain Gill Autry, to the stage from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. Gill will tell some stories, play several Spanish guitar pieces, and talk about the lives of significant composers, including Moreno Torroba, Francisco Tarrega, Enrique Granados, and Heitor Villa-Lobos and perhaps, with time permitting, non-Spanish composers such as Bach and Rufus Thomas. Gill is a former Valdosta mayor, author, and columnist for our local paper with lots of stories to tell!

We'll see you at the Club. Cheers!
