It's the most wonderful time of the year in Apalachicola!
The temps may be falling in Apalachicola, but the fall festival season is heating up on the Forgotten Coast! Start your week off right with the ApalachiCares Monday Fresh Market on October 6th from 5-7pm under the full October Harvest Moon. Join us for a community market featuring fresh seafood, homemade baked goods, local artisans, and so much more. You can catch local troubadour, Tommy Cooper, live on the mainstage from 5-7!
SINGO — everyone's new favorite national drinking pastime that's all the rage — is back with special guest host Nick Avossa on Tuesday, October 7th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Go ahead and mark every Tuesday in your calendar as Singo night! It's just as simple as it sounds: music bingo. Instead of listening for numbers, you're listening to your favorite tunes! There's only one rule for playing this game: HAVE FUN!
Come get creative for a cause with us painting Pumpkins for Porchfest on Wednesday, October 8th from 4-7pm! Porchfest is right around the corner and it's the perfect time for a bit of fall themed fun. Paint a pumpkin to take home or to proudly display at AYC for the weekend festivities. This year, Porchfest and donations for pumpkin painting benefit Aaron Meals, a local non-profit that feeds those in need across our Franklin county.
Pumpkins, painting supplies, and fun provided. A $5 donation is suggested but not required. All are welcome!
The Porchfest Pre-Party begins bright and early with Wiggle Room on Thursday, October 9th from 2-5pm. The duo comprised of Lawrence Eugene on guitar and vocals and Miss Irene on bass is known as a dangerously spicy group that's not afraid to mix it up! Their setlist includes a mix of singer songwriter originals and renditions of their favorite artists in their unique blend of 20th century alternative folk, rock, and blues. They pave the way for local legends, HOT MESS, to take the stage from 7-10pm! Let the good times roll with the zydeco swamp pop, rock, americana band that gets the neighborhood up and on those feet every time.
The Von Wamps keep the buzz going on Friday, October 10th from 3-6pm with a menu of country western, swing, artgrass, and other eclectic samplings of their vast repertoire. You may see them make a guest appearance with the Dabbit Revue from 7-10pm! The Dabbit you know and love is back with his pals to bring you an evening of delicious, twangy bluegrass, alternative country folk, and a few surprise twists.
Saturday is the big day: PORCHFEST! Get out there and soak up some sun, visit as many stages as you can, and enjoy a day benefitting Aaron Meals: a local non-profit organization dedicated to feeding families in need in Franklin County. The Porchfest Grand Finale kicks off with the Funky Taters grooving under the Hangar to big easy style jazz, danceable soul, and funk on Saturday, October 11th from 7-10pm!
AYC may be closed, but we'll all be partying at Watercraft for the official Apalach Oktoberfest on Sunday, October 12th from 2-9pm! Don't miss an afternoon of solid relaxation and festive fun in the form of stein holding and chugging competitions, featuring live music by the Von Wamps 3-5pm and Two Foot Level 6-8pm.
